Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man. He lived a sinless life and died for our sins according to the Scriptures - as a representative, substitutionary and complete sacrifice. He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and is today our High Priest and Advocate.
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” - John 1:14 - Genesis 1:1
“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. ...” - 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (See also: John 1:1, 14:8; Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-38 and 24:23-40; Isaiah 7:14; I Corinthians 15:22; Hebrews 4:14-16, 5:1-10, 13:5, 7:25; I John 3:5; Romans 5:1-11 and 10:9-10; II Corinthians 5:17, 21; Acts 1:1-11; I Peter 3:22)
Man was created in the image of God. Man sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is separation from God. All human beings are born with a sinful nature, lost and without hope except in God's sovereign mercy and grace.
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” - Genesis 1:27
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” - Romans 6:23 (See also Genesis 5:1; I Corinthians 11:7)
Salvation is received by faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ. All who trust in Jesus alone are justified and assured of eternal life by His shed blood.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast.” - Ephesians 2:8-9 (See also John 3:7; I John 3:1-2; Romans 3:14-17)
